Todd R. McFarland is a religious liberty expert employed by the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists. He represents church members and congregations struggling with religious liberty issues. Mr. McFarland works to hold employers and local governments accountable when religious freedoms may be in jeopardy. He helps shape the church’s stance on religious liberty and explains the church’s position in court when needed. He serves as the religion co-chair for the National Employment Lawyers Association and sits on the board of trustees at Southern Adventist University. Mr. McFarland earned his bachelor’s degree in history at Southern Adventist University and his juris doctor at University of Illinois. Prior to joining the church’s legal team as associate general counsel, Mr. McFarland was a trial lawyer in Missouri representing railroads utility companies, and injured clients.
