Dr. Julia Gish Salerno grew up in Walla Walla, WA and has served as Violin and Viola professor at Eastern Washington University since 2010. She also enjoys a large private studio with students from throughout the Northwest. Julia has been a featured soloist with many orchestras throughout the United States and Europe. She is also a frequent chamber and orchestral musician, and has been involved in the entertainment industry performing in the movie The Soloist, and with artists such as Stevie Wonder and Natalie Cole.
Julia began Suzuki violin lessons at age two. She graduated with a DMA in Violin Performance from the University of Southern California in May 2010. Previously she was awarded major scholarships for music study at the University of Michigan and University of Southern California, where she received her B.M. and M.M., respectively, in violin performance summa cum laude.
Julia enjoys a busy family life with her husband Tres and their children-five year-old twins Luci and Dru, and 11 month-old Maezey. They are members of Summit Northwest Ministries in Post Falls, ID and love all of the outdoor adventures the Pacific Northwest has to offer!
